School Structure

Berlin International School separates its daily operation and curriculum delivery into two sections:

B.I.S. Primary: Grades 1 - 5
B.I.S. Secondary: Grades 6 - 12

Secondary is further divided into two strands:

Middle Years: Grades 6-10
IB Diploma Programme (IBDP): Grades 11-12

The B.I.S. Senior Leadership Team (SLT) is comprised of the Director and the two principals. The team meets regularly and frequently to ensure a smooth and consistent operation of the school, and delivery of the educational programme. To this end, the SLT also has strong working connections with staff, students, parents and the community.

The Primary and Secondary Principals are assisted by the section leadership teams. Together they supervise the implementation of the B.I.S. curriculum in line with IB and local (Berliner Rahmenlehrplan) requirements. They also provide professional development and encourage their teachers to lead professional development for each other in weekly staff and collaborative meetings.
