On August 20, 2026, we had the pleasure of welcoming Katharina Günther-Wünsch, Berlin Senator for Education, Youth and Family, to the primary school of our Internationale Schule Berlin.
The visit took place during the preparation week leading up to the start of the new school year. Principal Nikolaus Harloff and Daniela Mahmoud and Kathleen Wasmuth, CEOs of Private Kant-Schulen gGmbH, guided the Senator through the school and introduced her to several areas of our work. Stops on the tour included our KANThall event venue, the school social work team, and the IT department. In our Grade 1E classrooms, the Senator also learned more about the special concept behind our entry-level classes.
The visit also provided an opportunity to discuss selected topics related to everyday school life and educational practice. Among them were the specific conditions under which independent schools operate, some of which differ from those of public schools.
Although the regular school year had not yet begun, the visit gave Senator Günther-Wünsch a first-hand impression of our school and the work we do. We greatly appreciated her interest and the opportunity to share the perspective of an independent school organization.
We would like to thank Senator Katharina Günther-Wünsch for visiting Private Kant-Schulen.
